Guidelines

From time-to-time, the Cricket Section issues guidelines to teams and players regarding issues affecting hte section both on and off the field. The following guidelines have been issued:

Costs of Playing Cricket

The cricket section committee is please to advise that following a review of the charges with the club's Food & Beverages people, a number of new menus will be introduced that will reduce the overall costs of lunches and teas charged during cricket matches. It is also advised that canned drinks will no longer be served from the fridge at 'Eames Corner' and any such drinks purchased from the bar should be at a player's own expense.

The following explains the current rules for charging lunch/teas:

All playing members are charged for the cost of hosting visiting teams. This includes the cost of the home team's meal/s plus drinks for the home team, visiting team, umpires and scorers. The visiting team's meal portion is paid for by the club.

In addition to the above charges for lunches/teas, each playing member is charged a nominal $20 'match fee' per game. This match fee is credited to a cricket fund, which is administered by the cricket section and used for the purchase of trophies and prizes and to subsidise tours etc.

Playing of Non-Members

Some members have expressed concerns about the playing of non-members. The following is the Cricket Section Committee's view on this issue.

Where possible, cricket teams that represent the club should be made up wholly of KCC members (including junior, sporting, ordinary or special voting members). However, it is recognised that there are occasions when teams must resort to playing non-members due to the unavailability of regular players, for whatever reasons. Such occasions should be kept to a minimum and no more than one or two non-members should play an any single fixture.

Recent instances of six and four non-members playing in matches are unacceptable.

It is the section's policy that non-members be allowed to play for a maximum of three matches for the club before they must submit a completed application form to join as members. Non-members who have played three matches and have NOT submitted an application form, should NOT be allowed to play further cricket for the club.

ALL non-members that play are to be charged a playing fee at the following rates:

  • Saturday League $150 per game
  • Sunday League $200 per game
  • Junior Members $50 per game

It is the responsibility of the team captain to collect cash from non-members on match day. The fees collected are then used to off-set the total bill for that match (see notes above).

If no fee is collected from the non-member, the team captain must either (1) gain the consent of the playing members to subsidise the non-member (i.e. by splitting the non-members fee across the playing members) or, (2) if no consent is given, bear the non-member's fee personally.

If the above rules are followed, it will ensure a fair and equitable arrangement for all.

On-Field Dress Code

All players are reminded of the club's dress code whilst on the field. That is, white (or approved team colour) collared shirts - tucked in at all times. A similar dress code exists at HKCC.

If you have been given a team cricket shirt, you are expected to wear that during all matches in which you are representing KCC.
