Saracens v. Witherers at KCC
Result: Saracens won by 110 runs

Bouncing back after their disappointing result last time out against CCC, Saracens put in one of their most satisfying performances of the season. Batting first, Saracens compiled 257 for 1 mainly comprising a marvellous opening partnership of 248 between Mr Grumpy (135 no) and a return to form Skip 1(92). Without doubt both were at their best for the season so far and a much needed boost of confidence for Skip1. Is it something to do with the wearing of a helmet with the built in neck sun guard?

Business as usual in the field meant that Witherers were always behind the run rate and lost key wickets early. Skip 2 achieved his highest match return this season(3-16) after starting by ignoring his own instructions to avoid extras in wides. It was just as well that the Finesmaster was absent! 8 bowlers were used in all excellently supported in the field by the Vet keeper and by Anil who took 3 catches and took part (again) in a run out. He narrowly missed taking one of the catches of all time for Saracens when he was just unable to hold on to a fierce drive diving at full stretch.

COC in one of his longest bowling spells of 4 overs teased the opposition into giving up 2 wickets with his deceptive change of pace and flight. Even Shiroy managed a wicket and Skip 2 will regret holding on to the catch for many years to come. Witherers finished on 147 for 9.

The encouragement amongst themselves in the field and the fast over rate by Witherers even when they were being hammered around the ground was a lesson to be learned and the game was played in an excellent spirit.

At KCC: Saracens 257-1 (R Sharma 135*, R Sujanani 92) beat Witherers 147-9 (Davidson 31, Holden 38*; P Cresswell 3-16) by 110 runs
