Squad
Special appearances by...
'A Season of Captains!'
Chaps and Jenny…the 2001/2002 has been a totally mixed season. On paper the squad looked to have a very strong chance, especially, after finishing very high the season before. However, unfortunately, we lost several key players who preferred playing on Sundays, and with public holiday games, and travel commitments (including me), we had various sides, and little consistency.
Thanks for Jards for giving me the opportunity captaining the side. When I was there, I really enjoyed it, and would have liked to be around more often. Would also like to thank the rest who took over while I was travelling, especially, Simon Scanlon and Damian Green.
There were several highlights during the season and most noteworthy with the bat were the following:
Simon Scanlon - 113
Damian Green – 109, 103
Anthony Barnett - 111
Manoj C. - 101
Ray Brewster - 92
…but the knock of the year goes to Simon Scanlon for his 200 in January.
As for the bowling, again Imran Farcy was the main wicket taker, improving on his 'no balls' from the previous year. Congratulations Imran with 19 wickets. Supported by Don Mohammed, Todd Johnsen, Hugh Tyrwhitt-Drake, Bharat and myself.
For the most improved player, and probably because he is the fittest in the squad, goes to Toddy, who proved to be a steady opening bowler and straight bat lower down the order. What will the bet be next year with Eamsey?
Our delightful scorer Jenny, was fantastic as always. Jenny, thankyou for helping me decide which white wine to bring along for the games!!
A special thanks to Damian Green, who is moving back to Taz in July. Greeny fitted into Hong Kong cricket very well, bringing extensive knowledge of how the game should be played to the HK wannabe's. Apart from the wonderful knocks out in the middle with the bat and majestic catches in the slips (by the way this guy can catch!), he will be best remembered for those quick singles and eagerness to be the 1st change bowler!!
Greeny, all the best for the future, and look forward to a few cheeky halfs in Taz soon.
